The rules for preparing international payments to Ukraine

26/04/2019

Please be informed that as from 1 April 2019 the National Bank of Ukraine introduced the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) as a identification standard for all bank accounts.

According to the ISO 13616 standard, the IBAN consists of 29 alphanumeric characters, where the first two digits specify the country code (UA).

Accounts in the IBAN format are being opened to the customers of the Ukrainian banks from 1 April 2019.

The transition period runs from 1 April to 31 October 2019 – during this period, the customers may specify accounts in both old and IBAN formats.

As from 1 November 2019, indication of the IBAN will be mandatory for all transactions, including international transfers irrespective of currency.
